The Similan Islands and Koh Bon are renowned scuba diving destinations located in Thailand's Andaman Sea, known for their stunning marine biodiversity and vibrant underwater landscapes.

The Similan Islands are part of Mu Koh Similan National Park, situated approximately 50 km west of the mainland. They are accessible only by boat, with most divers departing from Khao Lak. The national park is open for diving from mid October to mid May, making this the prime season for underwater exploration.

The islands boast several world-class dive sites, including:

• Elephant Head Rock: Famous for its intricate rock formations and diverse marine life, including sharks and barracudas.

• Christmas Point: Known for its deep dives and vibrant coral gardens, suitable for experienced divers.

• Honeymoon Bay: A shallower site ideal for divers of all levels, featuring a gentle reef slope and abundant fish species.

Diving here offers encounters with a variety of marine life, including colorful reef fish, nudibranchs, and larger species such as manta rays and whale sharks, particularly from February onwards.

Koh Bon, located north of the Similan Islands, is a popular dive site known for its cleaner station, attracting large pelagic species like manta rays from January to May. The site consists of Koh Bon Pinnacle and Koh Bon Bay, with depths ranging from 10 to over 50 meters.

Diving at Koh Bon offers a unique experience:

• Koh Bon Pinnacle: Starting at 18 meters, this site features stunning coral formations and is known for sightings of eagle rays and occasional whale sharks. It requires advanced diving skills due to its depth and potential currents.

• Koh Bon Reef: This area is characterized by interesting underwater rock formations and is home to large schools of reef fish, making it a visually captivating dive site.
